According to Reuters in their Nov. 19 report, it’s not a huge secret that U.S. consumers favor Amazon’s website for online holiday shopping. They conducted a poll from Nov. 12 through 18 and found that of the 3,426 adults surveyed, 51 percent of them plan to do most of their online shopping via the e-tailer’s site. Walmart checked in at 16 percent, while Target was just three percent. It goes to show the ease of the experience and shipping at Amazon’s site, in addition to a large inventory of products, makes it a clear winner.
It’s a winner with not only adults, but also the kids, as Amazon has rolled out all sorts of holiday lists including ones showcasing the top toy selections for children this holiday season. Some of the top picks by kids this year include a Sick Science Fizz Pop Boom kit, the latest Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo, a Crayola Color Alive Easy Animation Studio, and an Ideal 100-trick Magic Show suitcase. Also popular are the Pie Face Game, which ranks in the top 10 bestsellers, as well as a variety of LEGO sets.
The latest tablet from the e-tailer will also be a hot gift for parents to give kids this year. At just $50 in price, it seems like an inexpensive option for those wanting their kids to be able to play games, read books, or even chat in safe environments. With parental settings and Amazon’s various programs designed to provide content to adults or children, it makes the Fire tablet a winner. Some parents may opt for the Fire Kids edition tablet which costs double the price but includes a “kid-proof” case and a two-year worry free guarantee, which allows for replacements of the device.
With Thanksgiving and Black Friday one week away, that means Christmas is just over a month away for retailers to lure shoppers. Will Amazon’s competitors be able to step into the mix and compete with the online e-tail giant this holiday shopping season though?
